How to install a NEW'C screen protector without dust or bubbles
A clean table, dry hands and the cloth from the box are enough for most phones. The hard part is dust, and nearly every step that follows exists to keep one speck out from under your glass.
Before you open the NEW'C box
First make sure the glass is cut for your phone. Each NEW'C glass fits only the models named for it, and an iPhone 16 glass will not sit right on an iPhone 16 Plus even though both have the Dynamic Island. If you are unsure, find your exact model name before you peel anything.
Then set up the room. Pick a table away from open windows and fans, wash and dry your hands, and lay out what came in the box. Depending on the pack, that is two, three or six glasses, a cleaning cloth, and on some boxes an alignment frame, dust stickers, camera lens covers and a dust plug. Keep the spare glasses sealed until you need them.
Clean the screen the way your phone maker says
Apple's own advice for iPhone is to unplug all cables, turn the phone off and remove dust with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth, such as a lens cloth. Apple also says not to use compressed air, and that cleaning products and abrasive materials wear down the oil-repellent coating on the screen. Follow that and you start with a screen that is clean and still coated.
Nintendo gives the same kind of advice for the Switch, Switch Lite and OLED Model: a soft, dry, clean cotton cloth and no solvents or cleaners of any kind. On any phone or tablet, finish with a dry pass so no moisture is left under the glass.
Fitting the glass, step by step
Work in one go once the screen is clean. Every minute the screen sits bare, more dust settles on it.
- Turn the phone off and lay it flat, screen up, on the clean table.
- Wipe the screen with the cloth from the box, then lift any last specks with a dust sticker. If your box has no stickers, a strip of clear tape does the same job.
- If your box has an alignment frame, fit it over the phone now, following the drawing on the box.
- Hold the glass by its edges and peel the backing film off the adhesive side. Do not touch that side.
- Line the glass up with the frame, or by eye with the earpiece slot and the camera cutout at the top, and lower it flat onto the screen.
- Press the center with one finger and let the adhesive spread out toward the edges on its own.
- Push any bubble that is left toward the nearest edge with the cloth wrapped around your finger.
- Remove the frame, turn the phone on and test the touch screen across the whole surface.
When the NEW'C box includes an alignment frame
Fifteen of our iPhone models ship with an installation frame, and so does our iPad glass. The frame sits on the phone or tablet and holds the glass square, so the cutouts land where they should and you are not guessing by eye. On the iPhone 13 to 17 sets with camera lens covers, the same box carries the frame, the lens covers and, on some fits, a dust plug for the charging port.
Without a frame, line up the top edge first. The earpiece slot and the front camera are the easiest marks to see, and a glass that is square at the top is usually square everywhere. Browse the NEW'C iPhone screen protectors to see which fits come with a frame.
Bubbles, dust and other fixes
Most problems show up in the first minute, and most of them can be fixed without a new glass. Find what you see in the table and try the fix that goes with it.
| What you see | What usually causes it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A bubble with a white speck in the middle | A piece of dust under the glass | Lift the nearest corner with tape, touch the speck with a dust sticker or tape, and lower the glass again |
| A clear bubble with nothing in it | Air that was not pressed out | Push it toward the nearest edge with a cloth over your finger |
| An edge lifts once the case is on | The case lip presses on the glass | Try the phone without the case. Some of our privacy glass leaves a small gap at the edges on purpose, so a case does not lift it |
| A gap along the rounded sides | The glass covers the flat part of the screen | Our iPhone 11 and iPhone XR glass is cut that way by design, nothing to fix |
| The fingerprint reader on a Galaxy misses | Prints were registered through the bare screen | Delete your fingerprints and register them again, as in the next section |
| The Switch touch screen does not respond | Something between finger and screen | Nintendo's advice is to remove any screen protector and clean the screen with a dry cotton cloth, then run the touch test |
Galaxy fingerprint readers and thin glass
Our glass for Galaxy S20 to S26 is 0.25 mm thick by the box, thinner than the 0.33 mm sheet we cut for most phones. Hold it flat and do not bend it or press hard on the edges while you line it up.
Samsung says an uncertified screen protector may interfere with the in-screen fingerprint sensor, and that after a screen protector is replaced you may need to register your fingerprints again. So once the glass is on, delete your stored fingerprints and add them again through the glass. Our box also suggests turning on Touch sensitivity under Settings > Display. Shop the NEW'C Galaxy S screen protectors by exact model.
Camera lens covers and your case
In the combo packs, each camera lens cover goes on after the screen glass. Clean the camera bump the same way you cleaned the screen, then press the cover straight down over the rear cameras. The NEW'C camera lens protector sets are cut per iPhone, because a Pro carries three back cameras and a standard model two.
Put the case back on last and look along each edge. If the case lip touches the glass, the glass can lift over time, and a case that leaves a hair of space is the better match.
The same steps work for every screen protector in the NEW'C glass lineup, from the 0.25 mm Pixel glass to the 0.33 mm iPad sheet.
